Jeep WK Grand Cherokee Hard to Start

The WK Grand Cherokee (2002-2010) have a Mercedes Benz engine fitted to them. A common fault that occurs with them is a hard start issue where the vehicle cranks for a long time before starting when it's cold.

This fault is caused by faulty glow plugs however this is often a symptom rather than a cause. The faulty part is actually the glow plug module which causes the glow plugs to play up. Replacing he glow plugs without replacing the module will nearly always result in the fault returning.

You can source the glow plug module from Jeep however it is significantly cheaper if you take the part numbers off the old unit and source it through Merceds Benz.
