Should I buy Road Side Assistance?
Traditionally the only provided of roadside assistance was the NRMA. Now there are many competing service providers for this need. This article does not compare or advise one one the other, rather we will look at if this is a wise investment or not. We should clarify the identity of NRMA. In 2015 NRMA (National Roads and Motoring Association) are actually two separate organisations operating under the same name. They are linked in some ways but for the best part are completel

My Oil Is Black After MY Car Service
The day after your car was serviced you have demonstrated your lack of trust in a mechanic and decided to check your engine oil, just in case you have parted with some cash just for the change of a small sticker on your windscreen. Given that you have already entertained this idea in your head, it’s no real surprise that your looking for even a remote slither of evidence to back up your preconceived idea that mechanics are all ex inmates practicing hard learnt tricks of the t

Don't Ever Buy a Cheap Car Service
Marketing works, we have seen and experienced this first hand after getting some training in the area. Most of us know this to be true even if people complain and whinge that it is a waste of money and does not work. The reason for this “it does not work” mindset is the lack of training that most small businesses and even some medium sized businesses have, yet this does not stop them from trying tactics to attract people into the workshop. In the auto industry the age old at

Why Does My Mechanic Contradict The Car experts?
How is it that Andrew Maclean and his team rate the Holden Captiva higher than a Toyota Tarago on the list of best to worst cars? After all anyone with any mechanical knowledge will tell you that buying a Holden Captiva is about as intelligent as appointing King Julian to drive your teenage daughter to the prom. Are the journalists from ‘Drive’ lying to you? Is the magazine “Australia’s Best cars” riddled with lies and deception? Are these journalists paid my manufacturers to

Jeep Diesel Engine Failure
It has become apparent that the 3.0 Diesel engine fitted to the Jeep Grand Cherokee is common for complete bearing failure at kilometres between 80,000kms and 110,000kms. At this stage we are still researching as to the exact cause of this with many factors to take into account. The current situation is, we know this is a common fault but are yet to establish why. We are looking into this within the Jeep owners communities and our contacts within Jeep themselves. Possible Fa

Why Long Service Intervals Are Garbage
The latest selling gimmick of the producers of fine automobiles is the concept that your brand new $80,000 car which is comprised mostly of plastic only needs to be serviced four times in its life. Car salesmen strutting their KMart suits with sagging crotchs sprout all sorts of rubbish to land a sale and the craze of extended service intervals is something that has been around for a few years now. In a similar fashion to “fuel consumption stickers” and capped price servicing

Jeep Gladiator Common issues
To be Fair to the Gladiator we have not yet actually come across these faults in this exact vehicle yet. However given that the Australian market has only been blessed with the petrol V6 engine by penstar, the very same motor that features in the wrangler and the Grand Cherokee one can safely assume that the common faults are likely to move over. There is obviously a possibility that these common issues have been rectified in the newer engines, only time will tell. Negatives

Jeep Cherokee V6 Common Problems.
There are Only a few common faults with the Cherokee. The first of these is a semi common issue with the automatic transmissions giving trouble. Before condemning any automatic transmission, be sure to check and if in doubt replace the vehicles battery. Many of the Jeeps electronic systems including the control module for the transmission play up when the battery is on its way out. The result can often be vehicles getting transmissions replaced when all the vehicle needed is

Jeep 3.6 Ticking Noise Troubleshooting
CAMS, LIFTERS AND CHAINS Sounds like a rock band. Unfortunately it's not. It's a list of three common faults with the Jeep 3.6 petrol engine which is fitted to the Wranglers and the WK2 Grand Cherokees. All of these issues are common, however they do not always fault at the same time and they don't all give the same symptoms. We have done several of these on a variety of vehicles and advise to always do these as a group however the replacement for all of the afore mentioned p

Jeep JK Wrangler Review & Common Problems
As Sydneys Jeep Specialists we see a huge number of Wranglers and the WK2 Grand Cherokee. There are several cross overs between the two, primarily the petrol V6 engine is the same motor fitted to both vehicles. The diesel on the other hand is a completely different vehicle. If you'r e looking for a Cars guide style review of the cars, styling, handling and durability dictated at you by a want to be TV presenter than you are in the wrong place. Jeep Grand Cherokee Cooling Fan on High
Trouble shooting the cooling fan on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel. The cooling fan will remain on maximum speed if there is an issue with the coolant temperature sensor on the front of the water pump or the wiring to it. A common cause for this wiring to become damaged is when the cover for the high pressure diesel pump is removed and reinstalled. There is a small channel in the cover for the wiring harness to run, if you get this slightly out of place, when you tighten the

Cars and the Christmas Rush
Traditionally the Christmas rush in the auto industry starts early November. This means we are often very busy for most of the November and early December period. Due to the recent supply chain shortage, we are anticipating much longer wait times on many parts required for vehicles. As such we are recommending that customers begin to prepare for the Christmas holiday period much earlier this year. Its not unusual for parts delays to be anywhere between two and twelve weeks.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Water In The Car
The WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee have several known electrical faults that are considered to be "common". Topping this list is electrical issues with the computer systems that are located in small compartments below the passenger seat. Jeep Renegade Multiair Engine Explained
The Jeep Renegade runs a Fiat engine with a new technology called Multi Air. These motors a fitted to a number of European vehicles including Alpha Romeos. For some reason Jeep and Fiat made a deal and the engine found its way into the Renegade. They unfortunately still somewhat experimental and early adopters ended up paying for the teething issues it came with. It seems to have never really gained any real momentum as an innovation to the internal combustion engine, especia

Jeep Renegade Review
The Jeep Renegade is, unfortunately the black sheep of the family when it comes to Jeep. It's not quiet an off road SUV and its too big to be a compact SUV. When new they didn't sell overly well, not because of features or reliability but because it was priced to highly for the market. The base pack of the vehicle costs similar to the top of the line options from its competitors. The 2wd option was not popular with fans of the brand at all, which makes sense. The 4WD option s

What Does This Warning Light Mean?
As an active member of many car forums we frequently come across a generic question where the owner of a vehicle has the check engine warning light come on. They then ask the community with no additional knowledge "what could this be" Check Engine Warning Light This warning light is simply an indicator to tell the owner/ driver that something electrical has gone wrong. It is quite literally one light for a possibility if hundreds of thousands of faults. The light does not app
